On the evening of July 27th, 2023, the highly anticipated media launch of "The Art of Drinking" took place at the renowned Astor Bar, located at Level 2 in the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur. Guests were taken on an all-new cocktail journey as they were introduced to a captivating journey through the rich heritage of New York's five historical boroughs: Lower Manhatten, Midtown, Upper Manhatten, East Side, and West Side.
The Beginning of "The Art of Drinking"
The journey begins with the handcrafted Bloody Mary, a cocktail perfected by one of St. Regis New York mixologists. The iconic Asam Boi Mary, a unique interpretation of the classic St. Regis Bloody Mary is featured as a welcome drink during the event. This signature cocktail is made with Asam Boi-infused vodka, bird's eye chili, and a mix of vegetable and tomato juice - creating a distinct twist that reflects the exquisite flavors of Malaysia.
Pre-Event Drinks Featuring Aberfeldy 12 Year Old
For pre-event drinks, guests were served a couple of classics like the Old Fashioned and Rob Roy, expertly crafted with the Aberfeldy 12-Year-Old. Renowned for its exceptional quality, Aberfeldy's 12-Year-Old's balanced profile and smoothness makes it enjoyable to serve neat, on the rocks, or as a base for whisky cocktails.
Embracing The Legacy of The Original House of Astor
The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur's Astor Bar exudes opulence in every aspect, boasting a private art collection, and its furniture adorned with customized saddle-inspired elements pays homage to John Jacob Astor's favorite sport - polo. To further elevate our guests' experience to new heights, The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur introduces "The Art of Drinking" experiences originated from The St. Regis New York.
The immersive event brings the extraordinary journey to life with a curated collection of handcrafted cocktails: each meticulously created to embody the distinctive essence of New York's borough.
Apart from experiencing the art of mixology, guests also got to discover Astor Bar's hidden treasures like the one and only publicly displayed "Macallan Red Collection" in the Macallan M Room and the captivating art collection such as the photography of Brigitte Bardot by Terry O'Neil.
Stil Regis KL unveiled an evening ritual "The Violet Hour" during the same evening. The ritual symbolizes the transition from day to evening, embracing the endless possibilities of night. This concept is beautifully captured by a quote from American historian - Bernard Devoto " This is the Violet Hour, the hour of hush and wonder when the affections glow and valor is reborn when the shadows deepen along the edge of the forest, and we believe that if we watch carefully, at any moment we may see the unicorn."
Starting from the 28 July between 7:00 pm - 8P00pm, all bar guests will be treated to a complimentary Violet Hour Martini to experience the magic firsthand. "The Art of Drinking" menu is also available at Astor Bar featuring a collection of New York-inspired cocktails.
