Solarvest appointed by Gentari to install solar systems at Petronas stations nationwide.

Gentari Renewables Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Gentari, has teamed up with Solarvest Energy to bring solar power to over 300 Petronas stations across Malaysia. The ambitious project, set to kick off in April 2024, will see the installation of more than 5.4MWp of solar capacity, marking a significant step towards Malaysia's clean energy aspirations.

Solarvest views this partnership as a crucial milestone in Malaysia's energy transition journey, aligning with the nation's goals for sustainable energy. The initiative not only showcases a growing commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles within the oil and gas industry but also solidifies Solarvest's pivotal role in driving Malaysia's energy transformation.

As the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) provider, Solarvest will spearhead the installation of rooftop solar PV systems at Petronas stations nationwide. These systems, slated to be operational by 2027, are projected to offset approximately 5,035 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Solarvest's Executive Director and Group CEO, expressed pride in the collaboration with Gentari, emphasising the potential of solar energy to reduce carbon footprints in retail fuel operations. He highlighted the project's significance in contributing to a cleaner Malaysia and reiterated Solarvest's commitment to ensuring its success through expertise and innovation.

Chong further underscored the broader impact of renewable energy solutions on businesses across Southeast Asia, noting the surge in demand for sustainability-driven initiatives. With ambitions extending beyond Malaysia, Solarvest aims to drive the clean energy transition regionally, leveraging Gentari's global network to expand its footprint and accelerate the adoption of clean energy solutions.
