Sime Darby Bhd, a Malaysian trading conglomerate, has tapped the services of digital infrastructure company Equinix to facilitate the digital transform of its infrastructure and use its data centers across the Asia-Pacific region. This will include the use of a number of Equinix’ services such as Equinix Network Edge.
According to a statement, the partnership will help Sime Darby achieve secure and stable SD-WAN integration across markets.
Goh Hai Peow, Sime Darby Berhad’s group chief information and digital officer, said that the company is hopeful that the collaboration with Equinix will help them seamlessly bridge the distance between their distributed digital infrastructure throughout the region and improve agility with accelerated deployment.
Meanwhile, the company has also been deployed on Platform Equinix and leveraged Network Edge, which enables companies to run virtual networking services in real-time from multiple vendors, which is already being use by a roster of renowned companies including Cisco, CloudGenix, Versa Networks, Fortinet, Juniper Networks and Silver Peak.
The aim of this is to enhance Sime Darby’s ability to "rapidly scale and adapt" to external factors by deploying digital infrastructure as needed, eliminating prior systems that required shipment, truck-roll and capital expenditure.
This adoption will enable the business to achieve "secure and stable" SD-WAN integration across markets in a process supported by Equinix’s technology partner Coevolve.

Both companies have also expressed their commitment to to sustainability within their operations and the broader industry, in line with Equinix’s goals align with and are said to advance Sime Darby’s environmental targets to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 emissions, create an energy-efficient product portfolio, and increase investments in green innovations.
