image via Disruptr The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) board has appointed Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the pension fund. His tenure is set to commence on February 19, 2024, following his resignation as the President and Group Chief Executive of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).
Ahmad Zulqarnain steps into the role succeeding Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, who vacated the post after assuming the position of Minister of Finance II in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's cabinet. Amir Hamzah had served as the CEO of EPF since March 1, 2021.
Prior to his role at PNB, Ahmad Zulqarnain held the position of CEO at Danajamin Nasional and Deputy Managing Director at Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
EPF Chairman Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir thanked Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah for his exemplary service and welcomed Ahmad Zulqarnain to his new role. He emphasised anticipation for Zulqarnain's dynamic and focused leadership to propel EPF to greater heights.
In a separate statement, PNB announced Ahmad Zulqarnain's resignation, effective February 16, 2024. The new President and Group Chief Executive for PNB will be disclosed in due course.
Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda, PNB Chairman, extended heartfelt thanks to Zulqarnain for his invaluable contributions during his tenure, citing his leadership as instrumental in strategic planning and improving portfolio returns.
