Lagenda Properties Berhad (“Lagenda Properties”) will be joining forces with Bina Darulaman Berhad (“BDB”) under a joint venture that will see the pair work towards the development of a new affordable township aptly named Darulaman Lagenda in Kedah's Sungai Petani.

Set to be the largest affordable township in the state, the new township is geared at addressing the existing demand for affordable homes amongst the low and middle household income, and in turn, supports the Government’s agenda in ensuring a consistent supply of affordable housing for the rakyat. It is also targeted towards achieving the ‘One Family One Home’ aspirations of Lagenda Properties.

Chairman of Lagenda Properties, Admiral Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Dr. Ahmad Kamarulzaman Hj Ahmad Badaruddin commented that the future affordable housing development should be tailored towards townships that enable homeowners to enjoy quality and communal living experience.

"Lagenda Properties, with our pricing strategy and lifestyle focus, is committed to delivering our strategic and sustainable plan. This will positively contribute towards the 12th Malaysian Plan spearheaded by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (“KPKT”) to deliver 500,000 affordable homes, benefitting the underserved community."

With a gross development value of RM593 million, the project will feature more than 2,500 affordable homes with the focus of the township to be on sustainable quality living. The township comprises of 3 phases with the first phase consisting of 282 units. All units will be landed homes and priced affordably below RM250,000 per unit.

“Home ownership has been a constant challenge faced by all Malaysians - this is why in developing our homes, it is our utmost priority to reverse engineer our process to ensure that our prices match what the people can afford,” stated Managing Director of Lagenda Properties, Dato Jimmy Doh.

"Moving beyond Perak into Kedah is a timely and strategic move for us – as we see more and more people in Kedah struggling to afford a home to call their own. With our expertise in affordable development, and BDB’s strength in Kedah – we are confident that this is just the first step in alleviating or at least mitigating somewhat the affordability crisis in the surrounding area."

Lagenda Properties further adds value to its townships by placing sustainability at the forefront of its developments. Backed by homes with a quality build, the townships will also include facilities such as clubhouses, football fields, badminton courts, swimming pool, cycling and jogging tracks, giving a quality of life to buyers not usually attainable at this price point.

“Our townships are always planned out to be strategically located, spacious and eco-consciously designed to ensure ample green spaces and community areas catered to various age groups and is equipped with all the necessary amenities for quality living” added Doh.
