Khazanah's Cenergi SEA Enters Strategic Deal To Develop Integrated Sustainable Energy Solutions

Cenergi SEA Bhd, the sustainable energy subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, has engaged in a strategic business alliance agreement (SBAA) with solar service provider Fabulous Sunview Sdn Bhd (FSSB) to focus on developing utility-scale solar photovoltaic projects and providing integrated sustainable energy solutions to help commercial and industrial (C&I) customers achieve their corporate sustainability and decarbonisation goals.

Under this, Cenergi will be the project developer, investor, and operator, while FSSB will be the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) partner.

Group CEO Hairol Azizi Tajudin commented that the collaboration sets another milestone for the company following its issuance of the corporate green sukuk programme last year. "We are excited to join forces with a reputable organisation like FSSB to offer sustainable energy solutions to clients in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.”

He went on to say that the company will also be joining forces with Sunview to facilitate sustainable energy solutions to their Malaysian and Southeast Asian clients to accelerate their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda.

Additionally, they aim to support the Malaysian government's aspiration to increase renewable energy (RE) capacity to 40 per cent by 2035 and towards carbon neutral status as early as 2050.”

"Aside from C&I projects, FSSB is currently constructing approximately 11MWp ground-mounted solar farms under the NEDA scheme for Cenergi,” added Sunview CEO Ong Hang Ping. "We look forward to delivering more projects for Cenergi in the future."

Both parties are pursuing and developing over 25 megawatt (MW) of solar projects in Malaysia, including zero-cost rooftop solar installations for C&I customers and a large-scale solar farm and intend to scale up their strategic collaboration to add more solar projects of up to 100MW either on large scale solar (LSS) programme, New Enhanced Dispatch Arrangement (NEDA) scheme or future virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) scheme.
