Kejuruteraan Asastera Secures RM230M EPCC Contract To Build Power Plant With Petronas

Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd (KAB) has clinched an engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract worth RM230 million following their procurement of a letter of award (LoA) from Petronas Gas Bhd's (PGB) unit, Regas Terminal (Lahad Datu) Sdn Bhd, to build a 52-megawatt (MW) power plant and its associated facilities in Sabah.

To be achieved through its wholly owned subsidiary KAB Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd, the power plant is set to be located at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park and act as the main source of power for Petronas’ upcoming ZLNG project. Once completed, it will be considered Sabah’s first and largest near-shore natural gas facility.

"Furthermore, our joint feasibility studies with PGB (PetGas) show that the power plant is reliable and will achieve significant carbon reduction,” said KAB managing director Datuk Lai Keng Onn.

"We are committed to a continuous relationship with PGB to ensure the successful completion of this power plant while contributing to the nation's sustainability agenda."
