Hisham Hamdan lands role as new Khazanah CIO

(KUALA LUMPUR) Khazanah Nasional Bhd has named Datuk Hisham Hamdan as its new chief investment officer (CIO) starting March 6, aiming to bolster its investment capabilities and expand its impact on March 6.


In a statement released today, Khazanah highlighted Hisham's appointment as a strategic move to enhance the institution's ability to generate value and drive positive outcomes. The focus lies on fostering new capacities and skills to align with Khazanah's goals of value creation and societal impact.


Hisham brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having joined Khazanah in April 2011 following a tenure at Sime Darby Bhd. During his time at Khazanah, he has served in various senior roles, including executive director of public markets, and has demonstrated leadership across multiple sectors such as strategy, healthcare, energy, utilities, and China.


Previously, Hisham held key positions including chairman of UDA Holdings Bhd and board membership in Iskandar Investments Bhd and ValueCap.


Expressing confidence in Hisham's capabilities, Khazanah's managing director, Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, underscored the importance of his extensive experience in driving the company forward. Amirul Feisal emphasized the strategic importance of talent development and organisational capacity-building, aligning with Khazanah's overarching goal of advancing Malaysia.


With Hisham on board, Khazanah aims to reinforce its position in navigating the challenges of the global market landscape while advancing its long-term strategic objectives.
