U Mobile and CelcomDigi have forged a groundbreaking partnership to elevate mobile connectivity and bolster 4G network coverage throughout Malaysia. The collaboration entails sharing 100 Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) sites across the nation, with each telecom giant committing to 50 sites.
The pivotal agreement was inked by U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck and CelcomDigi CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi at the Malaysian Pavilion during the prestigious Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona, witnessed by the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil.

He highlighted that the shared MOCN sites would efficiently improve customer experience while reducing operational costs such as deployment, maintenance, and energy expenses.
Idham echoed Wong's sentiment, expressing enthusiasm for the initiative's potential to enhance 4G LTE coverage and connectivity across Malaysia. He underscored that the collaboration would streamline network operations, enabling both companies to invest in enhancing customers' digital experiences.
The MWC 2024 also served as a platform for U Mobile to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ZTE, facilitating knowledge exchange on 5G and 5G Advanced technology.
Additionally, a three-party collaboration between U Mobile, CelcomDigi, and ZTE was announced, showcasing the capabilities of 5G Advanced (5G-A) technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital solutions for real-time live broadcasting.
